Cab Franc can sometimes overwhelm the palette with excessive pyrazines and bell pepper. Romaine Guibertau’s Rouge, though, is a good example of how de-stemming, introducing little or no oak, and relying instead on minerals, earth, and the right amount of fruit can form a really terrific finessed wine.
This entry level from the masterful Loire winemaker has a high toned whiff of Serrano pepper followed by earthier damp notes of gravel, minerals, green strawberry, and sour plum. Clean and pure, it is chalky dry and beautifully constructed. — 8 years ago

Love this rose. Goes with everything and tonight a dinner salad with protein, romaine, tomatoes, casa Fresca, corn and black beans. Tomorrow with fish. — 4 years ago
Needs time to open up, big and dry. Decant for sure and enjoy with a steak and grilled romaine. — 5 years ago
Suave y floral. Puede ser que me recuerde al chupachup kojac? Se bebe muy fácil. Ligero y equilibrado. — 7 years ago

Woah, what a Merlot! One of the best I’ve had of this varietal (blended with Syrah). Big, deep, dark fruits and a woody vanilla spice finish that cuts through the smooth sweetness. Complex and layered, with just the right amount of tannins. This is why I love TPW Co. Savored this one with filet mignon in red wine balsamic wild mushrooms, creamy polenta, and honey Dijon romaine salad. — 7 years ago

Honey and spice, syrupy, super smooth with high tannins — 7 years ago
I have yet to “meet” a Special Club that I didn’t love. This ☝️ may sit at the top of my list.
Special Club Champagne is the highest tier of classification that grower Champagnes can achieve. As of 2021, there were 28 Club de Trésors, or Club of Treasures, members. There is a rigorous process before a champagne can be bottled in a dedicated green Special Club bottle.
The 2013 Mouzon-Leroux, La Blanche Voie Spécial Club Parcellaire is made from equal parts of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, zero dosage, that comes from the village of Verzy. 100% delicious.

Big bold wine. Juicy! Requires food as a result. But love it! — 5 years ago
Lovely smooth and full bodied red, just the way I like it. — 6 years ago
Sancerre Romana 2018 drank late 2019 — 6 years ago
My first nice ($30+) bottle of pinot noir. Nothing short of transcendent. Blueberry and black cherry, fabulously balanced through the mid-palate, finishing on something like ocean spray. I was still tasting it a minute after the first sip. Shared the bottle with Neal, Robyn and Erin, paired chicken parmesan and romaine salad. The best meal of 2019. — 7 years ago

Nice, easy drinking wine with a strangely eclectic meal: grilled romaine salad, tuna nachos, beef sliders with cherry smoked bacon, and chicken cutlets with arugula. — 2 years ago
