(Indexed wrong... this is the Vin de Terroir.) Amazing - almost a decade since I last had this. And I think that bottle was my introduction to Renaissance. I had actually figured I ought to wait longer than this but frankly the '97 Premiere Cuvee recently had seemed more evolved and thinner than expected so I really wanted to make sure this one was still doing OK. It is, and tastes to me at least a decade away from the zone at least to judge by the tannin, which is some seriously sinewy, old-school structure (think of how the '86 Bordeauxs used to be....). It's still got a crimson red fruit profile, certainly in the tertiary camp but not too evolved for its age, with lots of iron and earth adding intrigue (and cranking up the austerity factor as well). — 10 years ago
A great find from Laithwaite's. Deep ruby with lots of plum and garrigue. — 12 years ago
