We’re celebrating International Women’s Day with a beautiful bottle of rosé bubbles from @domainecarneros, where Eileen Crane, a pioneer, innovator, and intrepid leader, spent 33 years as CEO and head winemaker, having just retired last year.

Thank you, Eileen Crane, for your example of strength, ingenuity, humanity, and commitment to your craft. I’m excited for the deliciousness that lies ahead with incoming CEO Remi Cohen and her team. We’re looking forward to visiting the Domaine Carneros Château next month. 😆

Label says Homestead Cider, Dry, 8% ABV, produced and bottled in Port Townsend WA, but “crafted from heirloom apples grown in homestead orchards in Washington’s Olympic Peninsula”. Pale yellow with green tinge, hazy clarity with pinpoint bubbles. Slight head after pour, ring of foam and bubbles persists on edge of glass. Funk and complex apple profile in nose. Rich dry complex flavors, difficult to pull apart but my initial reaction was “Wow”. Style is consistent with a farmhouse or craft style production, but very well done. Good stuff, rich, fruity and at times it does taste like applesauce (Gravensteins?), with an interesting combination of acidity, flavors and aromas, but definitely dry. It does seems pricey given the simple package and label, and the bottle is elegant with a resealable closure so it’s also reusable but yes, there is really great cider inside. Worth seeking out, and worth every penny spent. — 7 years ago

Puffy clouds float atop alpenglow orange opacity, lacing the barriers with the remains of heraldic coats of arms weathered nearly indistinguishable by time, like the thin anonymous gravestones in ancient churchyards. Orange and tangerine, clementine and thyme, ruby grapefruit, and candied lemon, Froot Loops, green grapes, dragon fruit and kiwi scented. Lovely lime and lemongrass, quince, cardamom pod, chamomile, white pepper dusted pineapple, pomelo, and steely minerality that fractures into micro clove and aniseed while immersed in lemon oils and orange. Really nice offering. Keeps you guessing and offers some interesting taste combos.

Had no idea what this one was all about, but bought a few bottles for an Easter Gathering. Ended up chickening out and taking zero of them. Had the first one tonight. Holy smokes Batman! In my opinion, compared to a Stone or Dogfish Head IPA , this one comes in third place. In my opinion, the Finish was not too floral, too much grapefruit, this one was right down the middle. Really nice IPA. Usually don't post the beers that I drink, but I was inspired — 9 years ago

I don't often drink a glass of beer but my husband does so I taste a lot of different kinds. I took a sip of this one and said, " i love it, pour me my own glass!" Well balanced, and I do not typically like mango flavor, this harmony is one worth trying. — 10 years ago

Just oh so dang good. Dogfish Head Flesh and Blood IPA from Crowler. Lots of citrus punch in this one. Much more orange peel than lemon. Poured darker than expected. This is a really good session IPA IMO. Had citrus hop for sure. Definitely in Dogfish's wheelhouse for greatness. Finished this one rather fast, so I hope the ABV is OK!!
