The 2016 “La Clos des Chênes” pours a ruby color with a slightly watery rim and a transparent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe and tart red fruit: strawberry, cranberry, raspberry, sous bois, red flowers, some animale, mushrooms and fine warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose with a medium+ finish. A Volnay of good character. Drink now through 2036.

Quite light medium ruby, with wide garnet rim . Quite a lot of spicy darker fruits , with blackberry , dark cherry , very fruit driven still , floral hints . On the palate there good density and bright acidity , quite rounded ripe but gritty tannin , with a quite sweet spiced darker fruit profile , with a touch of anise , earth and dark cherry on the medium length finish . This is drinking well and still showing quite a lot of fruit , quite rounded and ample in style . From now and over the next 5 or so years . — 7 months ago

2017 vintage. Last tasted 7.6.25 (9.2) and 1.4.25 (9.3). Opened and decanted. Starting to show that gorgeous, silvery sheen when pouring. Tasted after 30 mins and 1 hour. Flitting about and nor super this or big that. More hint or bit of currently. Reallocating its' portfolio for the long-term vs the short term. Fewer explosive growth stocks tasted and more steady-eddie, blue-chips mixed with bonds in the mix now. Could swear I tasted a REIT in there somewhere. 01.23.26. — 13 days ago
