Dom Pérignon

Brut Champagne Blend 2006

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2006 pours a deep straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with lovely notes of slightly bruised apple, white flowers, lemon curd, brioche, slivered almond and a mix of chalk and limestone minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and creamy. I wish I could drink this all night long. Alas, only a single 750mL and not a Methuselah. Drinking well now and will only be taking on more secondary and tertiary character. But if that’s your thing (and I can get down), this will deliver well past 2036. — 2 months ago

Rubentis Getariako Txakolina Hondarrabi Beltza Hondarrabi Zuri Rosé Blend

Yum! Cranberry-rhubarb-rose water mid-summer glory. Low ABV, enough acidity to scrub a couple layers of enamel off your teeth. Perfection with fresh heirlooms, BBQ chicken, and cold spicy peanut noodles….I love basque Tzakolina with its vivacious light pink personality. Note to self: purchase a boatload before it’s gone. — 4 years ago

The aroma. If something tastes superb, it is how this wine impacts your senses. Smelling in the glass just before swallowing takes you to wine lovers heaven. Enjoyed with my wife, my son, sister in law and René, Who surprised all of us with this present. — 9 months ago

Monterey County Pinot Noir 2021

VERY fruit-forward, like blueberries 🫐/strawberries IN YOUR FACE lol. Marshmellow, nutmeg, honestly just sweeter than I expect for Pinot Noir 🤔 — 3 years ago

Special Selection Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

At 10 years this wine is still a baby. Very dark and rich with almost black residue on the cork. Not cold stabilized but not an issue. A wealth of Napa Cabernet fruit and French oak to please your palate. Expensive but it delivers on many levels. Benchmark Napa Cabernet from a stellar grower and producer. 🍷🍷🍷 — 4 years ago

"Entre Deux Mères" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

So delicious. Plums, black cherry and Christmas spices. Lots going on and lots to love about it. This wine will also have a special place in our hearts because it was the first wine we opened after our son was born. Unbeknown to us before pulling it, the cork says "Love Your Mother". — 6 years ago

I had the first vintage 2005? It was way good. Not sure I’ve had it since but looks like the ladies are on it and I need to revisit

@Alex Lallos I think it goes back to at least 2001. But certainly would say it's time to revisit. Not many values in Napa now, and this is certainly one.

Château Cantemerle

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

92-93 for me.

Consumed half bottle at pop, then corked for another 4hrs before consuming the rest. No change.

What a beautifully elegant and refined ‘09. The highest compliment I can give this is that it was a simplistic joy. Some wines make it easy to get nerdy and command your attention…some wines are underwhelming and not worth your time. This was squarely in the middle. It was a joy to not feel the need to overthink…it’s exactly what it should be. No bricking at almost 15yrs. Decidedly black fruit heavy (black currant, cassis, underripe blackberries) with a sprinkling of raspberries and black cherries. Aromas of sweet pipe tobacco, dark florals. Integrated on the palate with good structure and acidity…not a massive wine, but it put on a bit of weight/length the longer it was open. Still sporting a fair bit of tannin at the finish, but it’s balanced. Drink or hold.

Fine description

Château Cos d'Estournel

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2006

Iron and blackberry right off the nose. There is airy clove and black current quality to it that seems to disappear on the tongue. It reminds me of super fine, dark chocolate. The image that comes to mind is a living oak tree— it tastes alive. Pair with pets for a Beauceron, a loyal, intelligent, devoted dog breed that is known for guarding livestock. Sit in front of a fire, drinking this wine while eating some dark chocolate. Or better yet, a hearty filet mignon that you can share with your new Beauceron best friend. — 3 years ago

Silver Oak

Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

$80 for this compared to $125 for Napa is a good deal, even if it doesn’t age as long. You’ll get your reward more quickly. I’m getting lots of twigs and wet bramble, cassis and mint. Medium bodied raspberry and super delish. — 5 years ago
