Tons of acidity, lime and mineralogy. Sweet but not too sweet — 9 years ago

Stone Dwellers Strathbogie Ranges Shiraz 2009

Blind, no one would know this is Aussie. If they made those little root beer barrels in a cream soda flavor, this would be the model for them. The penetrating acidity keeps this interesting, but only just enough. — 9 years ago

The Victorian Strathbogie Ranges Viognier 2014

Light straw colour. Lots of stone fruits (apricots and nectarines), spices and herbs, a bit of oak and subtle floral aromas. Rich and full-bodied wine with balanced acids. Quite enjoyable. — 11 years ago

RS 8 Strathbogie Ranges Riesling 2018

Definitely a unique style of Riesling on display here. Bold and confident with beautiful, exotic fruit on the nose. The fuller bodied palate perfectly balances a dash of sweetness with zingy acidity and tasteful oak. Impressive at $35.

More info: Small plot two hours north of Melbourne in the town of Caveat. The vineyard is a pure granite shelf at 2000 feet elevation. (Obviously) 8 g/l RS with 8.9 g/l TA. Unfined. Matured in oak on the lees. 3360 bottles.

Victoria Verdelho 2012

Mid Lemon in colour. Aromas of tropical fruit. An unctuous full bodied palate with a twist of Quince marmalade and a slightly bitter finish. Grown in a cooler than normal climate (native of Portugal) in the Strathbogie Ranges in Victoria making the wine crisp and fresh yet still full bodied. An excellent new world Verdelho and one of the 1001 Wines. Must buy more. — 9 years ago

Extremely young, it feels like whole bunches were used it.
Crunchy, vibrant even a little too hard.
I reckon it will smoothen down with a bit of time, but I still prefer the Doug''s vineyard.

When you're drinking singular wine, on the winery itself, while the dude makes fresh pasta for your lunch and you're looking at the excessively pretty scenery of the strzelecki ranges, the rating can only be in the high nines. Viva Patrick and Megan. — 10 years ago
