While lighter on the palate, it is full of forest floor, mushroom, and tobacco flavors. The finish is long and ends with a hint of menthol. A lot of rich blackberry fruit, mixed with some accents of plum, followed by a lot of road tar and hints of chocolate. Rich with a lot of depth. Amazing now, but patience will be rewarded. This is a classic food wine: earthy, tannic, subtle fruit with spice rack notes and blackberry flavors at its core. The medium finish is chocolate and tobacco. Young. Lots of new releases at Casa di Lumia. Part strategy to take a test drive and see if I should stock up. Part pride - it's a race against friends to see who is truly on top of his/her game.Next up Daou 2016. Once again it lives up to its billing.
