Enormous. This has stuffing for excellent drinking in the now-to-5-years range but I'm not sure its built for the long haul. Give it good long decant and get it below room temp. — 8 years ago

Time to drink up. Powerful aromas of dried fruits, medicinal herbs and cellar. Fruit is past its prime though the wine is still easy to enjoy. — 8 years ago

Cork was in good shape, I've had it for the last couple years. It's been well cared for. I also felt like it was young to be going south but then again, not a great year.

Do Barolos go through a shut down stage like burgundy can?

I bet they can and do. That would explain the weirdness.

Lots of cherry and plum flavors. A touch grapey. Good with ribs, which was not expected. — 8 years ago

Good development. For a sub $15 red this is tops. It's not terribly profound or deep but it doesn't rely on sugar and it has plenty of different faces as it opens up. Great effortless pairing with pasta and oil. — 8 years ago

Decanted for 4 hours. Soft entry followed by an explosive mid. Ripe red fruits in a cedar bowl. This has precise acid and a generous finish. It did well with sausage and bacon pizza. — 8 years ago

Gold. Fine, whispy bubbles and an extraordinary richness provide ample balance for the racy acidity. This has it all going on right now: nerve, complexity, depth and real enjoyment. Try to keep from gulping it down if you can. — 8 years ago

As it's been said: "if you're drinking champagne, drink a '96. If you can't afford '96, drink 2002. If you can't afford 2002, drink beer."

Viscosity and fruit and acid and depth and even though I wasn't in France this time it was still a dann good drop. — 8 years ago

Doesn't look a bit of it's age. If this is the same as their Diamond Mountain Ranch CS (and I'm guessing that it is) then I've had the same stuff before, in 2009. It was a revelation then and it's a pure joy now. Harmonious and ever-changing layers of concentrated cassis, blackberry, mint, and earth are A Capella here in a lovely, resolved wine. — 8 years ago

Enchanting aroma. Balsa wood, pomegranate and a teeny bit of funk. It's very enjoyable but the flavors and texture do not live up to the nose. — 8 years ago

Actually found it on the shelf at Kroger.
