All bass, no treble. Lacking high-toned and effusive aromatics but compensating in it’s depth and richness. Silkier tannins for Monforte, elegant and present. Very savory and dark, weighty. Could argue that it needs more time to come together but that dark fruit is appealing now. Played well is mushroom braised short ribs and polenta.

Cherry bitters, crushed red roses, pencil shavings, blood orange, dried thyme, cedar, cigar box, dried tobacco, truffle. Elegant silky texture, excellent acid/rough velvet tannin balance, long smoky finish. Drinking beautifully at an early age, no cellaring required.

Started off quite shy. Still opening, in decanter, 2hrs later. Not crazy about the tinge of brett. Still, it has a bad case of blah. Stay tuned.
