Somewhat closed at first. Needed a lot of air. Then classic, dark tones, if still a bit muted. Thought 97 vintage might have been a bit more forward. Good but not great.

Even as Barolo goes, this was pretty fantastic: fruit still quite lively, but the complexity of the wine--especially of the aroma--is really well-developed.
