Altos Las Hormigas
Terroir Valle De Uco Malbec
Valle De Uco, Mendoza, Cuyo, Argentina
This 2010 Malbec from the Altos Terroir Series is from a select parcel of land in Uco, near Mendoza in Argentina. Given the recommendation of collaring up to 5 years this wine should be hitting its straps right now. In comparison to last nights' entry level Malbec there's a far better integration of fruit:oak.
On the eye it's dark red and completely opaque with an almost pink edge. The nose is black plum with a hint of tobacco. The palate is a mirror image and the finish is very long, dry and licoricey!

Smooth Malbec. Not very strong on detailed flavor, quite smooth though.

Jun 14th, 2015A little sharp to start, but finishes pretty well. Kind of bitter throughout.
