This was fantastic. Distinct orange peel note. Slightly different profile than last year's bottle. Dan's for New Year's #1.

This is outstanding. A 1976 Auslese which, based on label and cork condition, was rebottled. Incredible concentration and freshness for a sweet white that is 45 years old. A funky, sour note on opening, opens up into an interesting blend of melon, lichi fruit, green apple, vanilla and some vegetal notes. Not heavy on the palate; long finish. Great and unusual. Bottle #1 at Dan's for new year's.

CVed again second time 9/7/17. Same note on nose. Leila hit it on head. It's dill! And stone fruits and hay. Carries through to palate and finish but with an acidic steak. So interesting for a forty year old wine though library wine and color is amazingly young looking with beautiful golden hue. That biting finish however makes me want food. Very long finish. Finally opened 7/25/18. Still an amazing wine. That dill note perhaps due to cellar aging for so long?

Gold w auburn tinge; wet wood, struck flint, sulfur, dog, mushroom; med sweet w low-med acid. Tastes flawed (mercaptan?)
