Tawny and dark. Almost opaque. Notes of cola, smoked meat, earth and with air some sweet fruit emerges. Briary. Short finish. This showed well and held steady over 5 hours. Nice showing.

This bottle of ‘66 was very off in the most peculiar way; Smelled like smoked peat moss.

Medium dark robe, nose of steak tartare and cedar. Very complex and elegant in the mouth, great acidity and balance, licorice, dried flowers, a hint of dry port. Finishes on a beautiful acid note and is such a companion. Truly great bottle. You can barely tell the vintage.

Dusty, cedar, wet leaf, pencil, burnt chocolate. A bit over the hill and length drops away quick like but hey! Wine made 3 years before man made it to the moon I’d say it was pretty damn nice.

#openthatbottlenight #otbn Terrible at first, totally undrinkable. Seemed maderized. But then after about 4 hours really started to open up. Not sure it was full ‘66 Haut-Brion experience but it was pretty special 24 hours after popping!
