From the stable of the famous Alvaro Palacios. Black cherry, raspberry, thyme and gravel - many nuances. Barb thought a raisiny note. On the medium bodied palate, very savoury. One of my favourite grapes (Mencia) and terroirs (Bierzo), and has been every time I taste it. Very fine tannins - almost silky. A stunning, flamboyant Spanish Label. Amazing value at only $46AUD which I paid in 2020.

Just love this wine, just tried ‘18! Nice blend of grapes from the Bierzo Valley, the ‘18 has about 4% of perfectly ripe white grapes, 6% less than ‘17. Deep Ruby with loads of Berry fruits aromas adding some sweet floral spice and flinty notes. On the palate flavors of cherry, raspberry, and strawberry with a juicy mineral edge. Well balanced and integrated with fine smooth tannins, lively acidity and a long finish ending with oak and spicy notes. Tremendous value for such a complex wine.

Mediocre and flabby on opening but now 5 day later way more balanced and refined. ‘Spanish Pinot’ with mocha chocolate and candied cherries.
