Ehlers Estate Cabernet Franc, St Helena, NAPA VALLEY. 2017. This amazing cab franc has a beautiful opaque Burgundy color with a nose that reminds me of blueberry pie and violets with absolutely no alcohol fumes coming from this. The opening is blackberry, blueberry, plum, and boysenberry. That pretty much covers all the fruits - very complex. Then comes the chocolate and oak barrel. This wine needs absolutely no decanting. It is dead on perfect straight from the bottle. The finish is almost smoky and moderately dry. It leaves my lips sticky and my tongue tingly. You can almost chew this wine. The tannins are so beautifully round and smooth. If you’ve never had a cab franc, this is definitely the one you need to try.
