Dense Ruby. Black Pepper, dried herbs and dried meat. Not all savoury - also a nice sweetness- plum and other dark fruits. I noticed my notes when I first tasted this at the winery Cellar Door in Christmas 2019 - “My kind of Shiraz”. Outstanding. Trophy for best West Australian Red at Royal Perth Wine Show; 96 points from Ray Jordan. Had another bottle 30 weeks later on 3rd July 2026 with consistent notes. I followed this with a bottle of Trinity Hill Homage from NZ which really was black pepper. Comparing side by side the Forest Hill was really white pepper. Both great wines.

Dec 1st, 2025Delectable this is the Block 9 Shiraz, not offered in your Database. Typical peppery Mount Barker Shiraz. Dense Ruby with a crimson rim. A note of cigarette fine cut rolling tobacco and blue fruits. A medium bodied palate with spice and pepper. Savoury with medium minus fruit influence. Good length and M+ persistence. Visited the district and this winery about 4 years ago in 2019. I have always loved this style of Shiraz. Gold medal and Trophy Best WA Red at 2018 Perth Royal Wine Show.
