Gaja
Barbaresco Nebbiolo
Barbaresco, Cuneo, Piedmont, Italy
1958 vintage. Served by Gaia Gaja at the Gaja winery. Pale ruby hue. Earthy, manure, hint of morrel mushroom, not a whole lot of fruit - mature. On the palate, medium plus acidity and body, medium alcohol, medium minus integrated tannins and medium plus finish. Still very much alive although doubt it will get better from here. Very good. NB: still going strong after 1.5hr in glass. Remarkable.

1968 not too much mineral or dried meat. Fruit hung out to show. Needs 4 hours in decanter. From zachy'swarehouse. Perfectly maintained. A gem.
