I love wine for 2 reasons. It evokes excitement (especially if I’m trying something new) and it evokes memories.

This bottle of Grace Farm 2017 Malbec from WA’s Margaret River region evoked memories of an A-MAZING Grace Farm dinner I went to at Petite Mort in 2017. It was at this dinner that winemaker, Jono, told us about the challenging vintage of 2017 and that the grapes were picked nearly 3 weeks later than normal. He advised us to keep an eye out for 2017 Margaret River wines as they’ll be interesting.

Grace Farm have about 500 Malbec vines, so not a huge amount. This is the first year they’ve crafted a 100% Malbec wine. The grapes are typically blended however the 2017 was simply too good to blend. Only 70 dozen cases were produced and it sells at $45 per bottle.

In the glass it’s a black plum red colour. White pepper, blueberries, plums and cocoa come to mind when I give it a good sniff. While in the mouth it’s full of juicy fruits and graceful tannins. After having a sip, we decided to put it in the decanter for 30 mins which really opened and softened it up 👌

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
