Slightly cloudy and opaque but subtle crunchy red fruit along with tobacco and tar. Showing lovely brightness and balance in a funky sort of way... I dig it!

Reviewers had called this a picture perfect pinot, from one of the district’s top producers. It’s all there–juicy red berries, some smoke and leather, a little earthiness, intense flavors, everything you want from a pinot noir. We had it with a pork and hominy stew on a wintry night and it killed. But I couldn’t stop asking, why Walker Bay? As long as I’m drinking premium-priced pinot, couldn’t I just get one from Santa Barbara or Burgundy, places where pinot is already renowned? Why is it unique? It just didn’t stand apart in the way of, say, that semillon we tasted from nearby Franschheok. #laterwine

Very good South African Pinot by a very dependable house. This wine is medium bodied with great fruit and a well done smokey overtone.
