Hartford Family Winery
Hartford Court Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, California, USA
2013 vintage. Pretty textbook example. Elegant and red-fruited with good acidity, but enough structure and heft to be a more serious wine. Fresh cranberry, tart cherry, raspberry, red apple skin, lingonberry, purple and red flowers, little smoke, freshly-tilled soil, stale nutmeg, pencil shavings, nondescript dried herbs.

Thanksgiving wine #3. This Pinot was a polar opposite in style from the Lucienne. The nose opened with layered dark notes of black fruits and cola. The palate is plump and juicy with loads of black cherry, plum, cedar and cola. Delicious!
