Popped and poured; no formal notes. This was a bit of a head scratcher. I don’t know much about this wine but I thought it was merely okay and paled in comparison to the 2004 Chateau Montelena Estate that was served just before. The fruit was plentiful but a bit one dimensional and lacked the depth I would typically expect from SLWC. Honestly, it comes across like it was made to consume while young and maybe that’s the point?

This vintage not overly complex. Black cherry usually present in Stag’s Leap. Tannins are less evident. Exposed to air for 30 minutes prior to drinking. Was great with steak as usual. July 2022.
