First bottle of the batch of red wines we brought back from Spain after our car trip to France (and Spain, briefly) and back. The nose is showing blackberry, raspberry, damp forest soil, a bit of oak, a bit of tar. The palate is acid driven, a bit too much, making it slightly unbalanced. There are some nice, tangy red forest fruits and blackberry notes all along, some lively tannins in the rear, and a rather long finish with that drying layer, the same fruits and that tangy, fresh mouthfeel that makes you reach for another sip. Might be better with more air and/or some food. Good stuff though, challenging stereotypes about muscular and low acid Riojas.
