Viña Real (CVNE)
Gran Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend
La Rioja, Spain
Cherries and ripe red fruit; opaque dark plumb but a bit watery at the rim; frankly little short and, it seems, insufficiently tannic. Decanted for a total of 7 hours but never really opened up - one to forget in the cellar for a couple of decades to see if it develops.

Disappointed the first night thinking it was a bit short and watery under some typical dark earthy fruit... But second night revealed more character with a palette laser memory to a chicken hearts flambade from Toledo Spain... Which I'm not sure was a good thing... But had character and compelling.
