Pretty awful. Could be any variety. Sickly with little to no balance. Avoid. — 9 years ago

Berried nose followed by a red apple and gentle autolytic palate. Fine mousse and m+ length. High acidity keeps the wine very fresh. — 10 years ago

A curio from New Zealand, apparently Esk Valley are the only people to have planted Verdelho in the country. This bottle was so-so, I've had better bottles of this before, perhaps this was a recent shipment that needs time to settle? Not as much aromatics this time around. — 10 years ago

Natural wine made biodynamically. High acidity, clean and refreshing. Alcohol not too noticeable. Bramble fruit and plum skin. High tannins, relatively well integrated. Pretty good stuff. — 10 years ago

In Rome trying out a local Lazio varietal. Structured, full bodied with plenty of dark cherry fruit and sweet spice. Went beautifully with beef fillet. — 10 years ago

Easy going blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. Has a nice level of acidity and tannin. Loads of dark hedgerow fruit and a touch of sweet spice. Not hugely complex, but a crowd pleasing sort of wine. Will be lovely with a rare sirloin steak. £15 a bottle and holds its value. — 10 years ago
