Chianti Classico tasting 🇮🇹 @ Ai Fiori — 12 days ago
From a corner of Chianti near Siena* https://www.google.com/search?q=Barberino-Tavarnelle&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari (I believe) a family member nee Fontodi has a small bio/dynamic operation. Very old school.
N: Roses, Cherries, red fruits, dirt, green herbs, pepper…. Nice!
P: Quite umami, red fruits, slight licorice, dirt again, nimble at 13.5° Good blind choice. Shame I only bought 2.

Chianti Classico tasting 🇮🇹 @ Ai Fiori. Silly, chilly, limestone — 12 days ago
Rich and ripe - still with balsamic notes - lovely aromatics. A lively nose from this excellent Chianti vintage. Plummy, savoury red fruits, earthy, a trace of mushroom. Goes without saying that this is an excellent food wine, even with the extra ripeness from the 2016 vintage. We drank our last bottle on 12/12/25 with home made pizza. Just an excellent Chianti. — 9 months ago

The oak has integrated from my previous note in February 2017 where the influence of oak Barriques was overly present. Sangiovese is not enhanced by too much oak in my opinion and is best matured in large Botti like I said in my previous note like Biondi Santi. Red cherry and earth notes finishing with powdery tannins. Coming together. — 3 months ago
