Blaauwklippen Sauvignon Blanc 2023 – Stellenbosch, South Africa 🇿🇦
Overview
A relaxed, coastal-influenced Sauvignon Blanc that delivers freshness, balance, and easy drinkability without aggressive grassiness or sharp acidity. Ripe citrus and subtle tropical tones are supported by mineral tension and a gentle saline lift, creating a polished, approachable expression of Stellenbosch Sauvignon. Medium-light body, clean fruit focus, and restrained intensity make this an ideal everyday sipper built for consistency, comfort, and effortless enjoyment.
Aromas & Flavors
Green fig, lemon curd, soft citrus peel, light tropical fruit, gentle herbal notes, and subtle mineral undertones with a clean, pure fruit profile.
Mouthfeel
Medium-light body with smooth, integrated acidity. Crisp but not sharp. Light salinity adds texture and lift. Rounded mid-palate with a clean, softly creamy finish.
Food Pairings
Light salads, grilled chicken, seafood, sushi, simple pasta dishes, casual grazing boards, or enjoyed on its own as an easy sipping wine.
Verdict
A dependable, balanced Sauvignon Blanc that respects the palate, offering freshness and coastal character without excess intensity or acidity.
🍷 Personal Pick
This is my kind of casual Sauvignon Blanc, respectful of the palate, never aggressive, never overly grassy or piercingly acidic. Balanced, saline-kissed, and quietly comforting. The kind of bottle that makes a Tuesday afternoon feel civilized while streaming Netflix and pretending emails don’t exist.

Stunning Syrah from vinyards located in the Blaauwklippen Valley in the Stellenbosch area. Elegant and complex, reminded me some of the Côte-Rôtie wines.. — 10 years ago

Dark red purple. Big voluptuous nose of blackberry/blueberry compote in a new wooden bowl. Medium full palate echoes the nose with medium plus acidity and medium plus tannins. A classic South African Bordeaux style blend that, with its forward fruit and food-friendly structure, is a great bridge between Old World and New. Drink now through 2027 or so. — 2 years ago
Deep garnet. The 2015 predominantly Shiraz. Oak on the nose, some dark cherries, spice, and chocolate. Medium-high tannins, medium alcohol. Dark sour cherries, blackberries, hints of vanilla and oak. Great wine for that price range. — 8 years ago

Smells buttery. Tastes really good. Light. Tastes like a non-tropical fruit- maybe apricot or pear or peach. Would get again. — 13 days ago
