Actually it was the 35 year old....whatever — 8 years ago
Smooth with a bite at the finish. Nice creamy vanilla nose. Surprisingly light. — 9 years ago
According to label, distilled at Coal Ila on 27 November 1984 and matured in oak cask for 16 years. I bought on a trip to Glasgow in 2001. Very pale. Gentle peat ("honnori"). This would be paired very well with herring I think. — 10 years ago
Amber says she likes it. It's sweet and smooth. Like her. Tmi — 11 years ago

What a monster! I'm pretty sure that's the reaction Ardbeg was looking for when they crafted this whisky (that name!). Similar profile to the 10 year old (bacon and cigar), but with the smoke character dialled way up. So much so that it drowns out everything else, even when water was added. The finish was a little harsh for me and definitely more unctuous than the 10, courtesy of a rather textural body. Interesting whisky, but not one I'd reach for. Definitely getting a better picture of the Ardberg signature at this point.
NB: Interestingly, it made a great 1:1 mixer with the Coal Ila 12, pulling out lots of marine and earthy flavours. — 5 years ago

Initial tastes like uigeadail but with much more depth and complexity. But on finish diverges into iodine on top. 5 minutes later still tasting smoke and iodine from the finish. This is really good. — 11 years ago
Really peaty and Smokey — 6 years ago
Yes it’s stonefruit, yes it’s floral, but, savage reaches of wicked time, it’s saline like Caol Ila—the honey’d richness of bandaid funk. Gorgeous, brave, & sneaky-big. — 7 years ago
Nice full bodied red. A lot going on here, dark berry, black pepper lavender to the nose. Pepper and dark berry continues along with dried herbs, thyme and a cocoa finish. Paired with grilled lake salmon. — 9 years ago

Lost my exact notes but this was good enough that I saved the bottle to look for it. Punch but not brutal. Liked it a lot. — 3 months ago
