I'm not sure what happened to the yellow label with the little dancing guy on it. This is a pleasing sipper, with bright, tart fruit and plenty of acid. One dimensional, but a crowd pleaser and good with pork tenderloin and roasted spaghetti squash.

When in Milwaukee...
I ran into the liquor store near my hotel and there is a lady there asking the store owner about Italian reds. He says he doesn't know anything about wine, so I step in. They had a fair amount of Italian wine for a tiny liquor store. After some banter, I recommended this bottle of Barbera. I decided to buy a bottle for myself, because I wanted to see if it was a good recommendation. I'd say it was. A little tart and sweet, but also rustic. Would pair well with lots of food. The hotel stemware adds some fancy factor to this $16 bottle.

I'm always happy when I drink this. The nose is so warm. Hard to decipher fruit under the smell of oatmeal. It smells like a bowl of oatmeal, specifically the apple cinnamon Quaker oatmeal. Smells great on a freezing night. Tastes great, too. Dark berries and plums with toothy tannins. Pairs well with spaghetti and Italian sausage, which is not approved by my Jewish friends.

This wine smells like it's late to the party, but it tastes like it's 1999. Pucker up! Bright, tart cherries. Blackberries and mint. Cedar and tea leaves. Tannins are mellow and this wine has a smooth lengthy finish. A great value Napa!

Apparently I've had this one other time, but I don't remember the poop smell. Maybe it's not the wine! 😳
Opened this last night and the merde was strong. Tonight, the nose is very pleasant on this cheapo Bordeaux. Tastes like dark berries, herbs, a little mint and sage. It's good considering the price!

This is hitting the spot tonight. Probably because I'm back in my own home with my lovely wife. But, the wine is super pleasant. At 12 years, this Syrah shows bright red fruit, apple skins, a little herbal spice, and a touch of tar on the back end. It's very good, and probably in its prime.
