Stunning cab sav fruit. Cherry, glycerine, and cedar nose explodes on the palate with a deluge of blackberries, toasted oak and cedar, vanilla, and strawberry shortcake. Finished with a smokey burnt ember note. Structured and complex, this will continue to evolve for many years. While approachable now because the tannins while formidable are smooth and integrated, I imagine this will get better in the bottle as secondary flavors reveal themselves. — 10 years ago

Quiet plummy nose offers black fruits, tea, juniper; this wine has the scent of a cool redwood forest. Lovely grippy tannins on the palate complement flavors of black plums, earth, coffee, blackberries, and black tea. Full flattop of foam dissipates drastically leaving a single frozen flash of anime splash. Nice face full of orange orchard and spicy lemon and nutritional yeast with faint cut potato and mild yellow pepper. Zingy citrus grip blossoms into lemons dried and fresh-cut with tangerines, clementines and orchard blend. Mineral texture suggestive of crystalline metal. This wonderful farm girl has charm and poise. Delightfully bright and shimmering; with depth and substance. So like sudden, hard sunshine after a forest deluge. Immaculate. — 7 years ago

A deluge of rain just prior to harvest made for a challenging vintage in 2013, a "winemaker's vintage" in the Willamette Valley, but there are bright spots, wines with nuance and freshness. Willamette Valley Vineyards is one such wine, worthy of consideration, with classic raspberry and Rainier cherry notes, trail dust, and mahogany wood. On the palate, tart cranberries and pomander ball lead into a finish of moderate length, inlaid with minerality and tinged with spice. 13.4% ABV | Sample — 11 years ago
