Fortunately, we had this on hand to replace the flawed bottle. Still, not at its best. Maybe we held it too long. — 9 years ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2004 Lazzarito “Vigna La Delizia” pours a deep garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of ripe and slightly stewed Morello cherry, tar, truffle, dried roses, anise, dried orange peel, talcum powder, old wood and cool spices. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Honestly, one of the more impressive Barolos from Fontanafredda that I’ve had in a while. Drink now through 2044. — 17 days ago
