Love it. Simple and easy to drink. But seems like what a weeknight Italian should be. Robust tannins but nicely balanced. Great value. Def buy again. — 6 years ago
Best Italian full-bodied red wine of the year: As much as I love the three “B’s” of Italian wine (Barolo, Barbaresco and Brunello) my vote goes to the 2010 Guastaferro Taurasi Primum, a heady mix of ripe red fruit, tar and licorice aromas and flavors with some age on them. Bigger, richer, and more immediate than the Taurasi Primum, the 2011 Taurasi Riserva Primum lifts from the glass with an earthy display of ripe black fruit, sweet herbs, and dried roses, as graphite and balsamic tones develop. On the palate, velvety textures coat the senses in sweet-and-sour red and blue fruits, as zesty acids add lift, and citrus-tinged minerals and spices saturate. The finish is long and structured, showing a bit of wood influence, with a refreshing hint of tart citrus which balances this dark beast of a wine. Although I'm finding more power here in the Riserva, I suspect that the straight Taurasi from 2011 may outlive it, but only time will tell. (Eric Guido, Vinous, May 2020)

Delectable Wine

The 2019 Fulgeo is floral and understated, as chamomile and ripe apple give way to hints of ginger and yellow flowers. It’s almost oily in texture, yet nicely balanced, with a savory display of white stone fruits and hints of melon. This tapers off mouthwatering yet long with a salty tension. The Fulgeo is made from the rare Roviello Bianco grape. This is a solid wine, but I’m hoping that more time in-bottle may reveal a deeper and more characterful expression.
