The night before Halloween on this Friday. I have opened the 2016 Clos du Clocher Pomerol Bordeaux Blend. The blend on this wine is 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. A beautiful Right Bank Bordeaux that is rich and refreshing.
On the nose there is black cherry, blueberry, blackberry, mocha, herbs, spice, graphite, oak and earth.
The palate shows black cherry, blackberry, red plum, bell pepper, spice, cedar and crushed gravel
This wine is medium to full bodied with a smooth velvety mouth feel, medium + acidity and medium + grippy mouth coating sandpaper tannins that leads to a ling dark fruit earthy finish. I wish everyone a wonderful Halloween weekend and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 6 years ago
Enjoying a bottle of Flora Spring’s Halloween Cab Franc bottling has been a tradition for a few years now, and this one is extra special as it has an owl on it (my wife loves owls 🤷🏼♂️). Happy wife happy life. One of their better Halloween wines I’ve ever had, actually. Aromatically it’s mainly one dimensional. Bing cherries at first, but it’s got an awesome blackberry wrapped cocoa leaf note with the finish. Extremely smooth. Happy Halloween 👻🎃 — 9 years ago

Great pumpkin offering as usual! Pie crust and pumpkin pie spice offering on the nose to appease the gourds; orange pekoe celestial reflections. Cinnamon stick whittled for whipping, and nutmegs just made for licking. Great taste for a knife carved face of caramelized pumpkin! Naysayers be slain. Haters haunted, Geeks begouled, Smarms smitten. How else can you mark the seasons in Florida? Bring on the jacked-up-juices! #halloween #pumpkin #pumpkinbeer #dogfishhead #dogfishheadpumpkinbeer #dogfishheadpunkinale #punkinale #seasonalbeer #gourdbrew #iwillslapyouintothanksgivingifyousmacktalkjack — 5 years ago

5 hour decant. I’ve had a very tough time getting along with ‘09 Napa Cabs, finding most to be quite tannic, dumb and lacking any kind of expression. This Dr. Crane suffered from none of that. From the perfumed nose of Asian spice and significant depth and purity of fruit to the black cherry, chocolate covered expresso beans and red cedar taste profile, this is very ready now but it’s still clearly on the rise....and yes that is a Halloween 🎃 decoration on my fat lady sculpture — 9 years ago

Halloween mag o’ cab! Cherry oak spice cluster! Drinking great. — 3 years ago
Other than the fact that the name/label is perfect for Halloween...I’m obsessed with the oaky spicy twist on the red blend! Sweet enough to sip but spicy enough to enjoy! — 6 years ago
Some of my most favorite wines in the world. I discovered this bottle and a few others of its ilk recently lurking in the inventory of a local wine shop being sold for a song. I bought them all and opened the first one today. A bright Halloween orange in color this wine smells of orange peel, dark honey and exotic flowers. In the mouth, lightly sweet notes of orange blossom syrup, citrus peel, wet pavement and autumn leaves make for a gorgeous silky concoction. The acidity is filigreed and softening, but still very much a part of the wine. Exotic and alluring. A one-of-a-kind field blend of Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Beurot, Muscat, and Pinot Noir. — 6 years ago

We like it. Maybe because it's Halloween! Dry enough to enjoy. — 9 years ago

A little jammy on the palate but minimal with some layered dark berries, twigs, spices, bark and gravel. Dry medium plus to long finish. Drink till 2023.
