I am always amazed at how good these old martini wines can be. This wasn’t just good for its age, it was just good.
Great color/still sweet on the mouth/nice finish.
The vast majority of these old wines from them that I’ve had have been at worst good with several like this one being very impressive

Monte Rosso Mountain Red Blend 2011

Pulled the 2011 out of the cellar. What a treat. Great dark berries and plum. Tannins have pretty much dissipated with age. Nice oak. Just what I was hoping it would taste like. The fruit and vanilla on the nose is amazing. — 8 months ago

Monte Rosso Vineyard Block Designate Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Deep Ruby with black fruit aromas, earthy herb scents and soft spice. On the palate sweet fruits, cherry and currants, with licorice, tobacco and cacao notes on fine tannins, nice balance. Medium+ finish ending with fruit and earthy oak, very nice and has some room for cellaring. — 10 months ago

California Burgundy Pinot Noir

This is misidentified as Pinot noir as the back label lists about 5 other varieties. Then again the back label is generic enough that it seems they put them on all their bottles back then. No vintage noted but is an early 60’s bottling. Still bright with loads of red fruit. What I seem to detect is a slight VA but others with more experience with older vintages says that it was on point. I’m good on the palate just not the aromatics. For a 50yr old wine I’m good with it. — 4 years ago
