Le Phébus x Applewood Manor (Night 2) — 3 years ago
Mid 20th century fashionable country resort, popular with Hollywood due to 1892 stone Manor House & historic gardens. Blend of 81% Cab Sauv, 11% Merlot, 4% Malbec, rest other Rhone varieties, aged 20 months in 37% new French oak. Dark Ruby, aromas of ripe berry fruits, herbs & spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry & black currant with vanilla oak and earthy notes. Well balanced, fine tannins long finish ending with fruit, espresso notes and sweet spice! Nice now and will drink well over next decade. — 4 years ago

This noble manor and its vineyards were once called Doizic, and during the middle of the 17th century, belonged to Jean Raymond, a Registrar with the Guyenne Borard of Excice. Tasted several vintages recently. Beautiful nose of ripe sweet fruit and complex spice. On the palate aromatic flavors of peach & apricot emerge with citrus zest and sweet spice. Still tasting great, sweet and fresh. Lingering finish ending pleasantly fresh and sweet. Good value. Tasting Sample. — 8 years ago

Beautiful balance of mouthfeel with terroir character. A touch of Provence with a generous volume of oily/silk roundness! Beautiful to pair with summer cuisine!! — 4 years ago
Gift from Donnie for my 40th birthday. Smooth taste with a blackberry finish. Oak-y. Having this with some Chicago Pepperoni Pizza, but a good everyday wine. — 6 years ago
Remarkable how well this held up for nine years… 50% cab sauv, 36% PV, 14% merlot....Smart blending considering the wet end to the vintage – as much acid as possible (this was the second label wine from old vines… Before T.Ruth was born the next year). Classic Glen Manor concentration of flavor, just in a lighter weight package. This was my last bottle and I knew it was on the downward slope. Glad we enjoyed it when we did Dash it was a testament to Jeff white quality in the vineyard and deft touch in the cellar :) — 6 years ago

Tropical fruits pineapple, passion. Not acidic. Slighty flowery. Rose. — 6 years ago
So hard to believe that this was built on two year leaf grapes. Talk about a great rookie season! Mostly cab sauv , this did indeed punch far beyond it’s expected weight class. Complex yet fairly linear and sequential, this has the dna of the championship level big boy (glen manor/rdv/linden). While only a 375 mL bottle, it had aged remarkably well and would be worth another library investment if available ;) — 6 years ago
