Trius

Red Shale Four Mile Creek Cabernet Franc 2017

Has a roasted red color to it. The nose is velvety, nutty, and tart. On first sip, I get deep red fruit flavors with some smoke and pepper. Some mulling spices almost. I'm getting black currant, cherry, hint of honey. Has like a cedar taste on the back of it it. It's complex but smooth. Very little tannins. — 5 years ago

Rich dark mahogany colour. Smells of dark chocolate and coffee. Flavours of dark red fruits - blackberries. Subtle smoke flavour. Complex but without the pungy tannins.

Rombauer Vineyards

Carneros Chardonnay 2024

Founded in 1982 by Koerner and Joan Rombauer and sits on a tree covered knoll overlooking the Napa Valley, with caves that extend for over a mile. Pale lemon color with aromas of stone and tropical fruit, sweet oak, spice and floral scents. On the palate flavors of ripe peach, melon and apple, with vanilla spice, creamy texture. Medium+ finish, well balanced with acidity, ending with mineral notes. — 5 months ago

The winery is located in Aymavilles with the cellar lying one mile from Monte Bianco tunnel. Ruby with aromas fresh red fruits and floral notes. On the palate flavors of strawberry and sweet cherry with tea and black pepper. Fine tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit and spice. Nice! Drink young, no aging benefit. Two Sisters

Twenty Mile Bench VQA Riesling 2016

Some thoughts on this bottle:

- The 22 g/L of RS show as about half that and is a component of why the wine tastes objectively delicious. I have suspicions as to why we in Niagara are a bit snobbish about RS but we really ought to get past that.
- Has just the slightest hint on the nose of the distinctive Niagara riesling note of black olive. I’m told that’s due to picking due to weather pressure and picking for necessity rather than phenolic ripeness. Will follow up as to how and when and why here.
- It’s really quite good. Definitely comfortably above average on any grading scale. But not as objectively high-quality as the chardonnay and that seems to hold true for the region.
