Chez Cybulski 12:24/2023 — 3 years ago
Signature smells of bright and fresh raspberry, cherry, and plum, with bramble, notes of bell pepper and mint, hints of baker's vanilla, cinnamon and clove, and faint whiffs of warm tires and fallen wet leaves. On the palate fresh but richer red fruit of cherry, cranberry, and raspberry, hints of asparagus, with a medium mouthfeel and medium-length finish. The 13.8% alcohol gave the body some weight but was a tad strong for the bright red fruit profile. Overall this is a balanced Loire-style Cab Franc. Went great with my portobello caps with homemade porcini-morel gravy; food and wine really brought out the spice flavors of each other. — 5 years ago
SO delicious. Smooth but a little tart. A little fruity. A splash of flavor that’s quick on the tongue. Super drinkable. — 6 years ago
Tart but round with a citrus explosion and slate mineral core lively acidity and a vibrant finish - the Pinot Grigio alternative for everyday wine drinkers — 8 years ago
Pleasing full-bodied sweet dessert wine with blackberry notes. — 9 years ago
Thick & viscous - dense brambleberry and prune at 15yr+ old. While a little over the hill, this still had rich flavor from a very sugary vintage. Decent cleansing power with fillet. — 2 months ago
What a hidden Jim… The key ingredient here is the estate grown Nebbiolo worked into the pseudo SuperTuscan blend. Phenomenal flavor from the Virginia Piedmont. This was a recipient of a gold and more than deserving of it. — 7 months ago
First take: it’s a bit muddled and flabby….lacking crisp structure. It is young so I will test on day two. Day 2.5: impressively, air has brought this one to life! Clarity and articulation are now present. The character profile is still medium+ weighted fresh red/black cherry with a delicate green herby frame. What improved - the focus and clarity of the acidity. It broadened, thus mouthfeel improved. — 4 years ago
Perhaps a touch on the down swing, this luxurious and sophisticated build still provided plenty of pleasure for a holiday special meal. Complex from quality fruit… The special 2010 vintage provided ripeness for the CabSauvignon and merlot components. Thoughtful oak exposure provided just enough framework and the inherent herb inlay... particularly from the PV. Former Governors cup case gold — 5 years ago
This was worth the 5+ years I waited and invested in this rappahannock co (?) family wine. Really sang herbal harmony with wifey’s perfect Wooloomooloo BeefStew Roast. Tannins have tempered at 7yrs+ to let the sweet red fruit sing a few solo lines. — 6 years ago
Great win gift for Amy — 9 years ago
This aged in barrel for a ridiculous 44 months… The complexity and breath was like a great reserva Rioja. Merlot was the lead - Jeff blended it from stocks he inherited from the previous owner. — 5 months ago

Rappahannock 2015 with Rebecca
Really good blend. Smooth. Earthy. Subtle tannins. Medium body.
Would buy again! — 3 years ago
Simply one of the finest Merlot vineyards in the state… Tremendous drainage and aspect at elevation… Massive phenolic capacity tempered by 30+ months in barrel. A true terroir spot in Rappahannock county — 5 years ago
