SyrahTastingDay#3
Completely disoriented by this very original expression of the Syrah. We expect a Sunny wine with alcohol and the typical notes of Australian Shiraz outside, we have here a wine of great delicacy with rather red fruity notes, and unexpected vegetable notes of menthol and even eucalyptus, also a slight musk animal character. The winemaking is admirable and we recognize Alain Graillot's style. Superb! 🇦🇺
Superbe! 🇦🇺 — 4 years ago
Original price tag, this Crozes-Hermitage is really remarkable (I believe La Guiraude is a special cuvée?), meaty, smoky, classic aged French Syrah, long finish, amazingly this was the most ready to drink of these wines I’ve been posting tonight, and the favorite of at least one of our 6 tasters tonight!! With all that said, if anyone has bottles of this wine, it’s fully mature. — 5 months ago

Always as much pleasure with this solar cuvée, not lacking in silkyness and freshness. Congratulations Alain Graillot for this beautiful cuvée "Crozes in the sun of Morocco"
Toujours autant de plaisir avec cette cuvée solaire, mais ne manquant pas de souplesse et de fraîcheur. Bravo Alain Graillot pour cette belle cuvée « Crozes in the sun of Morocco 🇲🇦 » — 4 years ago
Clos Figueres’ flagship wine, made with Garnacha (60%) and Cariñena/Carignan (40%) from the estate’s oldest vines (80+ years old). Since 2009, winemaking is overseen by legendary Rhone vigneron and Syrah guru Alain Graillot (previous vintages included varying amounts of Syrah). Aged in French oak barrels for 14 months. Intense nose with aromas of dark fruit, prunes, smoky notes and Priorat’s classic mineral character. Full-bodied, smooth tannins. Balanced — 4 years ago
Fruit and earth and heme and amazing tannins and just a hint of Brett. Quite lovely though. Could certainly have aged longer but I didn’t feel like waiting. — 5 months ago
This wine is chock full of juicy, ripe blackberry, black cherry, blueberry, red plum, and strawberry notes, violet, leather, and soft tannins.
Winemaker Maxime Graillot is the son of the revered Northern Rhône winemaker — Alain Graillot — who passed away in March of this year. Surely his father left an indelible imprint on Maxime’s winemaking, and his commitment to quality, which he will carry forward.
This style of Syrah reflects youth, innovation, and a personality of its own that is so approachable, textural, and delicious; it would make a great choice for any holiday gathering. A crowd pleaser.
We chose this wine to pair with roasted chicken and it’s lovely.
