Trocken Riesling 2019

Stylistically so different from the 18. On the nose: lovely lime and lemon oil, loads of slate and crushed rock, amazing intensity, which is all similar to18, but on the palate, this couldn't be more different. This has a regal richness: almost oily and dense up front, in contrast to the very linear 18...then the acidity kicks in to round this out....the mouth waters, filling with lime, soft smoky notes and wet stone. Excellent, not sure which of the 18 and 19 I prefer now. — 5 years ago

Frogmore Creek

Tasmania Chardonnay 2020

A buttery style but not overdone. From the over performing Coal River in Tasmania. Currently fruit flavours are subdued but it is very young and will develop. Went well with 6 “delectable “ Cape Bruny oysters grown nearby for an average of 18 months in some of the cleanest waters on the planet. The glass of the Frogmore Chardonnay was too young and was dominated by the fabulous oysters. — 5 years ago

Tremolo Walla Walla Valley Syrah Blend 2014

Mostly deep and dark, with some dried red fruit and savory smokiness showing through. Peppery and some bitterness at the end. Delicious. Went really well with filet mignon in shallot-caper vinaigrette and roasted cauliflower, asparagus, and chorizo. Good for an overcast or rainy evening ☁️ 75% old stones Syrah, 25% Olsen Grenache — 6 years ago

Interlude Washington State Red Blend 2015

Smells of fruit grown in gravel.

Loud blueberries, cran Pom grape good, clean, smooth, mouthfeel and wonderfully light heft. A whole lot bouncing around in this wine. The acid oak balance is strikingly harmonious.
Lingering blue fruit skin. A good one to watch the latest GOT with.

Clos Canarelli

Corse Figari Vermentinu 2021

Take us to Corsica!!

We’re prepping for an upcoming class with this beauty, which comes from the southern tip of Corsica (the most southerly wine region of France 🇫🇷 ); an appellation called Corse Figari AOC.

The vineyards are farmed biodynamically (certified since 2006) and are situated on a plateau at the base of the Omu di Cagna mountain ⛰️, not far from dramatic Bonifacio cliffs rising up from the azure blue waters of the Mediterranean.

It’s made with Vermentinu (aka Rolle or Vermentino) by Clos Canarelli, devoted to producing high quality terroir-driven wines made with indigenous varieties.

This wine offers a bouquet of lemon and orange peel, white peach, crisp green apple, just-ripe pineapple, honeydew, citrus blossom, elderflower, crushed stone, arugula, and custard.

It is both vibrant and rich with a creamy mouthfeel and layered complexity. It’s absolutely delicious and we cannot wait to share it next month.

Cappella Washington State Cabernet Franc Merlot 2017

Often people equate understatement and restraint with ‘simplicity.’ Bummer for them, more for the the rest of us.
This is a lovely blend of Cab Franc & Merlot that brings forward the best of both varietals without relying on tannic ‘power.’

Still Waters Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Yes Syrah! This red is not for the faint of heart. It’s a dry vintage and unforgiving under the wrong tongue. My advice is to wait for the 2nd or even 3rd aftertaste, as you might be surprised by sensations you’ve never noticed before. — 8 years ago
