Black and firm like a piece of obsidian. Tannins ana but hard and drying. This needs more time for some rich food.

Another Costco wood box of 4 Bordeaux, third one to try at Torry Schoolhouse. Has that classic Bordeaux woody notes but are in balance with fruits. Very nice but just a touch below first one. 80/10/5/5 Merlot Cab Franc Cab Malbec. WE 91.

With Jancis Robinson’s 16/20, James Suckling’s 91 - and “drink or hold ” until 2022 recommendations, my choice was to uncork the bottle now and no regrets whatsoever - my best Blaye so far.

Blend of Merlot (70%), Cabernet Sauvignon (15%) and Cabernet Franc (15%). Dark ruby color with a garnet rim. Aromas of dark berry fruit, violets, wood smoke and leather. Blackberry, black plum, black currant fruit flavors with a distinct note of dark chocolate. Hint of black pepper spice on the long and earthy finish. Chewy tannins and a big hit of acidity, which will probably tone down with more bottle age. Needs a bit more rest. Thanks for sharing, Keith S!

Works best with a hearty meal, but good regardless.

Superb in every way. Paired perfectly with a roast. Decanted hour and half

Second one in the $30 wood Costco box of four Bordeaux wines to try. More tannins in this one without a lot red fruits on the palate. Lighter body with leather and wood on the nose. Still an enjoyable wine. And still wishing I had picked up two of these boxes instead of one!
