Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese

An uber-typic-textbook BdM in a developmental sweetspot.

After a decant this is so good. I had a ‘16 a few weeks ago. Just as good.

Definitely showing the ripeness and heat of the year, but still a nice entry level Brunello. While staying here had to give it a go.

Disappointing Brunello. Surprisingly rustic for a Brunello: very fruity to start and very tannic in the finish.

Medium ruby edging on garnet with red cherries, red licorice, cassis, raspberries, some oak and tobacco with subtle notes of violet on the nose. Dry, medium-full body with a very fresh acidity balanced by the structured, yet polished, tannins. On the palate, cherries, cranberries, raspberries with some earthy wet leaves, oak and tobacco. Medium-long beautiful round finish with more notes of cherries and a touch of chocolate. Decanted for about an hour. Beautiful wine that should be fantastic in a few more years.

Mar 2024: 2 hour decant to wake it up, classic brunello on the light side, very nice note of dark ripe cherries

Dark ripe cherries, stewed plums, chocolate and anise. Tannins are smooth but this will age for another few years.

Babe Bday

Perfect Brunello after a two hour drive to the beach. Very drinkable and approachable.

Medium ruby color of medium plus intensity. Red fruit, dried flowers on the nose. Dry, medium plus alcohol, medium acidity, medium beautiful elegant tannins. Dark cherry, licorice, and a hint of creme brulee. Medium length. Delicious, will definitely improve over time.
