2009 Clarets at tasting group last night, blind. One of my favorites. Spearmint, spice, chocolate/coffee. Green notes. The most lively in the mouth with nice acidity, dark red fruit.

Good fruit and tannins. Overall I felt it lacked structure yet a decent finish with leathery notes with licorice and plum. I think this wine has quite a bit of Syrah and for me that's not one of my favorites.

Very elegant for a 2010, very long indeed. Bit of earth and soy in this, spice. Still a touch of heat but lots and lots in this. Almost surprisingly rather fun already, but probably will go to sleep soon. Either drink now as a youthful star or forget about it for 10 years.

I enjoyed the balanced tone of this Left Bank Bordeaux. 2009 was a great year, but prices reflect that. The Saint Julien region makes great wines and this was as close to a value example as you can find. Cheers!!
