Comte Armand
Clos des Epeneaux Monopole Pommard 1er Cru Pinot Noir

The Pommard was a beaut.. Fleshing out, but still a little tight on the finish. Patience required.

Your patience will pay off with this one. Tannins have lots of grip. As another reviewer says, 'definitively, yes'!

At 20 years top wines needs to be in a good place. Not a fan of 20+ aging - for reds. AND? Excellent cork. Some oxidation. Brown tinge. Plenty of tannins left - give it 10 min at least!!! Tobacco, plums, peaches? Rust. Touch orange juice. Hint oregano. Really coats your mouth. Incredibly mellowed out. Plenty of acid. COMPLEX. A little rustic - not elegant but bold and big. This is what Pommard should be classic. World class for Pommard. To keep this longer would be nuts - drink up! What a wine!

I looked for an informative 2005 rating. There is not really one. Needs 30 min to open up. Very!!!tannic seems rustic. It’s Pommard. After 1 h the wine shines cedar planks, cigar box, orange zest very black red tart cherry 🍒 blueberry? Hint of mint. Has a bite. Even after 15 years so tannic? I will keep this for 5 more years and then try the next bottle in2025 and in 2030. So layered.

A lovely Burgundy that has lots of berries and silky tannins. Had it with duck and filet minion on Christmas 2019. Needs a little time to open up as it was quite tight at the start.
