Copain
"Tous Ensemble" Mendocino County Syrah
Mendocino, North Coast, California, USA
Very pretty aromas full of florals and ripe fruit. Palate is soft and approachable, with acid and tannins mild but in balance. Paired with pot roast braised in cream of mushroom soup.

Mint on the nose; blackberry, plum and licorice on the palette. Silky with firm tannins. This was great QPR at $15 at Peterson’s

Black pepper, cool black fruit, olives, mildly chewy tannins and great with meat. Copain wins again!

Copain’s 2013 Syrah Tous Ensemble is fabulous. Inky dark blue/purplish fruit, smoke, licorice, lavender and grilled herbs jump from the glass in a lifted, juicy Mendocino Syrah to drink over the next few years. (AG)

Surprised to find this complexity in a California Syrah.

Nicely balanced tannins, medium bodied and a graceful blackberry, dark olive taste upfront. With a few hours to sit, however, fell a little flat and took more of a savory turn. I appreciated the lack of bold fruits, however.
