Dark Horse Wines
The Original California Chardonnay
California, USA
Pale lemon in color with a golden tint.
Fruity nose with citrus, lemons, light vanilla, toasted oak, peaches, apricots and light spices.
Full bodied and refreshing with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with lemons, grapefruits, citrus, spices, vanilla, wood, minerals, cream and white pepper.
Nice length on the finish with limes and bitter almonds.
This California Chardonnay is nice and refreshing. Well-balanced and simple. Showing some oak notes, but not overwhelming at all.
Enjoyable by itself or with food. A good sipping wine by the porch, or pool, if properly chilled. A little bitter on the ending, though.
I paired it with an assortment of creamy cheeses.
13.5% alcohol by volume.

2015 vintage. GPQ, goes well with mussels. Curious about the other dark horse wines

Jul 16th, 2018Dull and uninspired. Some short lived apple and pear notes but these quickly subside into bland over sweetness. Maybe some@would mistake this for “smoothness”. Yawn.
I love Chardonnay but not this version of it.

The oak in the wine kind of sticks out in an unnatural way. It's not terrible wine but it does taste cheap. I think it's trying to do to much for the price.
