Maybe it’s the warm, softer-acid vintage of 2011, Grenache’s red-fruit freshness has faded. Subdued raspberry, dried cherry and fig give way to savory tones of leather, steeped red tea, subtle anise and lavender. The palate is broad and soft-textured, with resolving tannins and soft round acidity, favoring warmth over lift. Dried herbs, tea leaves, and gentle spice on the medium finish.
Quite complex and enjoyable, though I expected a bit more.

Oct 17th, 2020Decanted 2-3 hours. A bit hot and pruney at 2 hours. Seemed to continue to mellow but didn’t pay enough attention to tasting at end of evening.

Have a whole case of Janasse and it keeps tasting better and better with spicy heat and feel of skins still in the wine. Paired with filet mignon strips & mushroom for winter solstice

Dec 1st, 2018Enjoyed 2011 vintage in Dec 2016. Recommend decanting it for at least a couple of hours. Nice bouquet of pepper, spice and earthy notes. Very nice bottle.
