This was a wine that was always a bit rough around the edges so I waited for to hopefully mellow with years of additional age. Unfortunately the fruit has faded somewhat and although the tough tannic edge has softened, the result is.just an average wine. Dark still with a nice bouquet, probably it’s best feature. Notes of red fruit, violets, oak, dark soil and some spice. Dry in the mouth, lacking fruit, with a corresponding drying finish. Have some cheese or something to go with it, as just by itself this is ho hum.
