From magnum. The 1999 “Le Grands Épinots” pours a ruby color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart and ripe red fruits: strawberry, raspberry, red flowers, forest floor, some ferrous earth and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. A solid showing and I would expect the larger format helped with that. One of my favorite terroirs in all of Burgundy. 2016 Malco from de Montille is showing beautifully, with superb definition, deep fruit intensity, a vibrant, sappy and textural palate with fine grained tannins and a long saline and mineral laced finish. — 8 days ago
