1995 vintage. In 2001 we had this on the virot wine list and the tannins were crazy firm. Now this is super sexy.

Candied, total cherry cough drop. Good length but a bit simple. A touch liquorous (seems a touch higher alc with some backend heat) with great purity. Good for a tough year I presume. There seems to be some rot here, too. Dirty dish rag type smell. Power and structure and lots of fruit. Dirty dish rag smell totally dissipates (wonder what that was about?). Perfect fruit/acid balance. Deep concentration. Fruit fills in and becomes deeper than initial cough drop tendencies. Some cardamom. Smokin' with a lot of life. Candied turns to black cherry. Totally smooth. I didn't quite fully understand this wine.

Bloody, rich, a bit drying on the back end but a very good wine.

Very nice mature burgundy. Great on nose, and beautiful body, slight complexity and full body. The finish is lean and drying, with a short finish - the main retraction of the wine.
