💫 This lovely Sancerre AOC was made from the challenging 2024 vintage, marked by cool and wet conditions. One of the worst vintages in recent memory, according to my research.

☝️ It’s a testament to the resilience of Sauvignon Blanc and François Crochet as a vigneron, especially considering his commitment to organic and biodynamic farming, firmly rejecting the use of chemicals and fungicides.

👏 Perhaps it was Crochet’s very discipline, watchful eye, and careful hand-harvesting that helped avoid flaws of the 2024 vintage.

🏘️ François Crochet is located in the commune of Bué framed by limestone-rich hills, producing a range of terroir-driven wines.

🌿This wine represents a blend of parcels including several which are normally kept separate for single-vineyard bottlings including Petit Chemarin, Grand Chemarin, and Les Amoureuses.

🥂 In the glass, this wine has a lean and elegant profile with some texture perhaps from time on the lees. Its mineral spine takes a lead role in the bouquet, next to crushed limestone and stony, flinty notes alongside crisp apple, lime zest, kiwi, and gooseberry notes, with a clean, focused finish punctuated by a saline tension.

🍽️ It’s a beautiful—if not classic—pairing with this goat cheese & arugula omelet over a salad with cucumber, avocado, and ripe blueberries. 🫐 The wine’s bright acidity cuts through the creaminess and its gooseberry flavor matches & lifts the tang of the cheese.
