Well balanced and inviting. Black fruits, blackberry, leather, smoke, well integrated tannins, everything you love in a Napa cabernet. This wine is great, not exceptional. Long finish that invites you back for more. My impression is mid term aging as opposed to long term.

Big and juicy, as expected. A bit hot. Not my style but the table liked it.

Dark and inky. The wine is sweet and at the same time earthy. That may be the heat. The oak is nicely integrated and not overwhelming. Cali cabs are not my go to, but this one is very nice. Much more subtle than I expected.

2012. Birfday-eve called for an ode to personal growth/groth. The first bottle opened was the 2011 Groth cab, and it sadly went down the drain. The 2012 was beautiful- perfect tannins, glass and mouth coating, not a bad way to say goodbye to 42.

Full body, smooth with hints of oak and raspberry.
